Prime Time Threes and Nines

As they continue to work on their debut album, local indie/punk/alt rockers Threes and Nines will get nationwide exposure when their song “Fireworks” is played on the ABC show “What About Brian” tonight at 10.

The show, starring Barry Watson (“Seventh Heaven”) and Rosanna Arquette (“Pulp Fiction”), is a drama about a group of 30-something friends in Los Angeles. Past songs for the show have been supplied by Colin Hay of Men at Work.

In the fall of 2005, the Threes and Nines — consisting of teenagers Jake Brebes, Tasha Brittain and Max Triplett — pulled off an upset, winning the Winery Music Awards in Paso Robles in competition against much more experienced bands. The top prize for winning was a contract with indie label RNB.The quirky band has been recording at the Music Lab in San Luis Obispo.

Meanwhile, after a year off, the Winery Music Awards is coming back. Names of well-known entertainers are being thrown around as possible hosts and judges. Andrew Firestone, of reality show “The Bachelor,” is one confirmed co-host. But WMA founder Kathy Kelly is negotiating with bigger celebs.
